Got up fairly early to avoid the major rush of boats that we knew would be jostling for a space in the Zandkreeksluis lock. Went in the massive lock with just 4 other boats so there was no hassle! 2 locks and 2 bridges later we were in Goes (pronounced Hoos).
Got to the last bridge just before Goes De Werf marina, but had to tie up along the quayside as we got there around 11.30 and being a Sunday the bridge didnt open til 1pm. Paul discovered that boats are only ‘allowed’ to stay in Goes for a max of 3 days, but after chatting to the harbourmaster with a sob story, we were told it was ok. Tied up easily and were inside De Werf marina this time, but still next to the little playground, which was great for Lucy!
Wifi was free but crap so trying to watch Wimbledon final was hopeless. Paul checked his phone and Murray was 2-0 sets up so was getting exciting but still no joy with bloody wifi. In the end we went into town and found a bar with better wifi. Eventually we discovered they had a telly inside so left our table outside and watched the last game with Murray serving for the championship.
After Murrays success, we went for dinner at an Italian. We later found out this Italian had been rated the 24th best restaurant in the town…. Out of 25!! Wasn’t boding well but the food was actually very nice, the service was good and the owner and our waitress were more than helpful.
