We left the island mid morning, travelling to virtually the other end of the Grevelingenmeer, to a pontoon near the village of Brouwershaven. The pontoon was just under a mile from the town but, according to all our documentation, the marina in the town does not accept visitors. However, we now know that not to be true. There is plenty of space in the marina for visitors.
The town is quite small but it has a few restaurants, a bank, a small supermarket, fish and chip shop, ice cream shop and of course a Chinese! We went ashore in the tender and had a good look round and had some fish and chips where the cod is deep fried without batter (a bit strange but ok ).
In the evening a case of “can’t be arsed” took over so we ordered a chinky take-away and I nipped in to get it. It turns out it was VERY nice and would definitely recommend it.
