We left Willemstad about 11am, which was a bit early as we had to fight the tide a bit but nothing too strong. Basically we came out of Willemstad and turned right along Hollands deep and travelled about 5 miles to the east before taking a northward canal to Dordrecht. There is one big bridge before the marina and one small one to get into the marina itself. The big bridge opens at 16 minutes after the hour. I think the little bridge to the marina itself opens on the half hour past each hour.
We spent the afternoon watching Murray lose the Wimbledon final then walked into town which was pretty much closed due to it being Sunday. However, we grabbed a Thai takeaway in the evening and had a nice night chilling onboard.
The marina is called the Nieuwe Haven marina (see map for location). It is very reasonable at around 21€ a night, including electric and wifi. It is very close to the city, about 3 mins walk. It has all the shops you’ll need including a big supermarket, restaurants and bars. There are also a few phone shops to get Internet juice for onboard pcs!
We are staying for 5 nights whilst I return to the UK to work for a few days. The train to Amsterdam takes about an hour so I’ll leave here around 6 am and be in my office before 10.
