Eastbourne to Itchenor, Chichester 9th August

August 10, 2012

March 31, 2025

It was the final leg of our Holland adventure, but that being said it was warm, sunny, calm and easy. The journey was a tad under 60 miles but with tide with us it took just 7 hours. But when the sea is flat calm you can sleep and cook and eat with ease so the time soon passes.

We left at 5am in thick fog, which had been predicted, but by the time we were a couple of miles out the fog lifted. We now had a pocket of clear visibility caused by the land breeze coming off the coast (I think) but we could see the fog bank flooding down the channel – luckily we were not in it. By 9am the fog bank had gone and we were in glorious sunshine which lasted all day.

By the time we got to the Looe channel we had the tide against but then as we entered Chichester harbour we picked up the tide again. We went down to Itchenor and picked up a buoy.

Cost : £13.50
