Dover to Dunkerque – 28th June

June 28, 2012

March 31, 2025

We left Dover at 5 am to catch the north going tide. On the way out we had to dodge a cruise liner all be it a small one that was heading into Dover. We crossed the channel about 5 miles north of Dover with wind and tide up chuff.

Although motoring most of the time it was just on low revs more like motor assisted sailing. The seas were nice and calm and it was positively hot and sunny. We reached the French coast and travelled along doing an average of 8.5 knots with the help of the tide.

Consequently we arrived in Dunkerque at 10:30.

We had drinks on board with some new friends Peter & Connie (Dutch) and Terry and Pat (from west Mersea )

Mooring: we went to the Dunkerque yacht club which is on the starboard side.
Cost: we paid 29€ for the night + 10€ deposit for the gate key.
