Colijnsplaat to Delta Marina – 3rd August

We left Colijnsplaat with just 17 minutes to go before the Zeelandbrug opened some 2.9 miles away. We made it but only by the skin of our teeth, actually going through the bridge when the last of the yachts were coming through from the opposite way (with the man who operates the bridge giving us permission of course).

The sun was out but of course the wind was on the nose (the norm when you’re heading south) so we just motored to the big lock that gives entrance to the Veerse Meer.

The Zandkreek Sluis a double bridge lock, which means they lift one bridge one end and the cars all go over the bridge at the other end and when the lock’s full they swap bridges so the traffic flow is not interfered with.

Once through the lock we are in the Veerse Meer.  This is a delightful area with plenty of places to moor. We chose the Delta marina in Kortgene but directly opposite the marina called “Wolphaartsdyke” is also supposed to be good.

The town of Kortgene is quite small but it has all the essentials and is only 10 minutes walk away.

Delta Marina, although expensive, is well equipped with fuel, pump out facilities and even a kids playground which Lucy loved and cried when we took her out of the sandpit!

Cost 32.5 Euros, WOW almost UK South Coast prices, nah, not close really.
