20130804-170355.jpgWe new the day was going to be very hot and sunny 30°+ so we planned to go somewhere where we could swim and cool off so the islands opposite Veere were our preferred option however when we got there they were very busy and the water was full of small jellyfish which put everyone off the idea of swimming not least because we did not know if they would sting and as nobody else appeared to be swimming we thought we would give it a miss.

We hoped that the jellyfish would only be around the islands so we went between the islands and Veere and anchored but alas they were there in their thousands as well. Oh well!

As our guests had left their car at Oude Tonge and were departing tomorrow we ( the men ) decided to take the bus back to Oude Tonge and pick it up ready for them to leave. So we eventually decided after a quick phone call to Veere marina that we would go into the town Marina as they had a box berth available.

When we were in we all jumped on a bus to Middelburg and Rob and I took a 2 hour ( air conditioned) bus to Oude Tonge while Kath and Heidi and the kids mooched around town and had a drink in the scorching heat.

.20130804-171245.jpgThe following morning consisted of a trip to the sandy beach some 300m away where there was and area of lake fenced of somewhat which kept most of the jellyfish out somehow. Because it was shallow swimming wasn’t an option but paddling, keeping cool and having fun was.

A quick hose down with freshwater and an ice cream concluded our friends visit to us.

We stayed in Veere another couple of nights and we discovered that the pontoon outside the harbour has in fact enough depth for a 2m boat and is free but there is no electric or water
