Eastbourne to Calais 21.06.13

We locked out of Eastbourne at 6am and carried the tide pretty much all the way to Calais, arriving about 1:45. Unfortunately we missed the last bridge opening for that tide and had to wait till 9:30pm for the bridge to open again. We picked up a buoy outside and relaxed for the afternoon and, of course, had a snooze to while away the afternoon! Early evening Kath started dinner, in time for us to eat before heading into the marina itself…. Or so we thought. Literally as we sat down to start eating, Paul checked the bridge….. It was moving! Within a minute of us realising the bridge was opening for us to enter the marina, we were off the buoy and heading in! 10 minutes later we were tied up, leccy on and back downstairs eating dinner with a vino! It felt good to be properly tied up to a pontoon, given the amount of wind we knew was coming, so were able to relax a lot more.
