So we left Vlissingen at 8 am but for a change we decided to take a different route to the usual one through Middleburg and the Versemeer. Instead we continued down the Westershelde down to the canal at Hansweert that joins the Oostershelde at Wemeldinge. With just one lock and two bridges it’s a much faster route north. Of course you do miss the delights of the Verse meer but we’ll catch it on the way back probably.
It has a very modern and large marina. There is a small town about a mile away with a spa supermarket.
Most important of all there is an ice cream shop on the way to town. As well as a little playground near the harbour masters office. There is also a washing machine n dryer.
For us the price was €31 inc elec.
